Dear Friends and Associates,

Here we are, another year behind us, full of satisfaction with the quality level of wine and we have already begun the first tasks in the vineyard to prepare our vines for the upcoming harvest.

We would like to thank you for your support that you have given us this past year and for the beginning of new collaborations, and we look forward to lasting relationships.

The 2018 harvest proved to be very positive; the rains and moderate temperatures help lengthen the time of maturation, which was therefore more homogeneous. The alcohol gradation obtained was in line with past years. Compared to previous years we had a notable increase in production, due to transitioning some varietals to the Guiot training method, and to the favorable weather conditions.

Our  latest news of 2019 is Suley 2018, a white wine obtained from Sangiovese grapes (where in the winemaking process only the juice is fermented, and not with the skins), along with small quantities of Vermentino and Viogneir, what are now considered traditional grapes in the Maremma. After 3 year absence due to insufficient quantity in production, Suley is now back.  A structured white, with typical characteristics of Sangiovese, is softed by the freshness and aromas of the traditional white vines.

Based on the success of the 2017 vintage, we are also continuing with Pasha 2018, obtained from Chardonnay and Vermentino grapes.

We will be ready by early February with Leonardo 2017 and Sangiovese 2017:  Two wines that have given us great satisfaction by achieving excellent scores from leading international guides and journalists.

This year we will also have the release of Passito 2016. The grapes of Aleatico, once harvested, are put to dry on racks. When the optimum drying point is reached, they are de-stemmed and fermented until the right balance between alcoholic content, residual aromas and sugars is achieved. The production of this wine is very limited.

Below you will find further information about wines that will go on sale in the coming months.

I renew the invitation to meet you personally, both at the winery and at the upcoming fairs, to taste together the vintages that will come out in 2019 and to experience firsthand La Chimera d’Albegna.

We look forward to hearing from you and your feedback.

Warmest Regards,

The Chimera d’Albegna Staff
